Gold band

by Coolcat, Sandy, UT

50 years ago on our weddin day
As we looked into each others eyes
An she held a flower bouquet
I remember lookin down at the gold band
that gently graced her hand
an hoped we would always be together –
she would be my wife an Id always be her husband

Gold bands get old
And gold bands get worn
Wedding vows are made
And wedding vows sometimes torn
But my love for her will always stand
Like the eternal circle in her little gold band

The first years of our marriage
We had challenges – and many tears
But always we worked through them
all through our years
good memories have now replaced the challenges
like the memories of our children she carried
and always of being in love
with the woman I married

Gold bands get old
And gold bands get worn
Wedding vows are made
And wedding vows sometimes torn
But my love for her will always stand
Like the eternal circle in her little gold band

Seems like theres always been my wife and me
when I look back on all the good & bad
we always made up, after we disagreed
and we always wore on our left hands—
our now worn out gold bands

I wonder if she knows,
Ill love her for all time—
And if I had to do it all over again
Id still make her mine

Gold bands get old
And gold bands get worn
Wedding vows are made
And wedding vows sometimes torn
But my love for her will always stand
Like the eternal circle in that gold band
