Scavenger hunt extravaganza

As a demonstration of his love, Chad asked his girlfriend to marry him in an extraordinary and unique way. The lucky woman, Christy, was not prepared for the day ahead when she woke to a phone call from an unfamiliar voice. She was confused by the call, but followed the instructions and traveled to her mailbox to retrieve an envelope. Upon opening the envelope, she found an elegant card of poetic instructions indicating she was going on a scavenger hunt. Christy had loved scavenger hunts as a child and had always told Chad how much she would love to go back to those days. The card explained her friend Karen would be arriving shortly.

Christys brother then handed her another envelope containing the first clue. In the same poetic fashion, it hinted at a park where the two had gone. Christy and Karen quickly jumped in the car and drove to Alum Creek where they found one of Chads friends dressed fashionably in a suit and tie. He handed Christy the second clue which led them to Scioto Park, where Chad and Christy had one of their first dates. The women were met there by another of Chads friends dressed in a suit. He handed them their next clue along with two tickets to the Columbus Zoo. Met there by another friend, just as well dressed, they were handed a CD and told to play it in their car. They quickly returned to the car and placed the CD into the stereo. In rhyme and meter, Chad told them that it was him they were looking for, and they should look in the glove-compartment for clue four. As they opened the compartment to find another envelope, Sinatras New York, New York began to play. The women opened the envelope and realized they were holding plane tickets to New York City! Screaming in excitement they drove home to pack. Their flight left in only three hours.

The plane took off at 2:30 p.m. and arrived at LaGuardia Airport where they were met by Chads friend Scott. He handed them a clue that led them to their next location-the top of the Empire State Building. There, another of Chads friends handed them the next clue which lead them to Rockefeller Centre where they found another friend and another clue. Next was Times Square, and finally the women were escorted by the four men through Central Park where Christy finally met Chad at Bethesda Fountain.

They embraced and talked. Chad like his friends was dressed appropriately for the occasion in a suit. Chad read some entries from his journal, and then some passages from the Bible about marriage. He then told her that he loved her for the first time and got on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course she said yes.

From Columbus at 8:00 a.m. to NYC at 11:30 p.m. it was certainly a long day, and certainly the best scavenger hunt Christy had ever done
